Stalybridge – Easy access A635, 10 minutes to M60

A burgeoning night-time economy, a much improved street scene and the restoration of the 20 mile Huddersfield Narrow Canal has resulted from significant investment into Stalybridge in recent years. Dubbed StalyVEGAS by local residents, the area has seen a rapid growth in new bistros and bars, adding to its popularity as a place to live and be seen in the region. Recent significant developments include the completion of the 'Phoenix City' a Chinese restaurant which opened in 2003, together with the new 'Society Rooms' Wetherspoons bar which occupies the former Co-op site at Grosvenor Square.

A 70,000 sq ft (6,503 sq m) Tesco Superstore, town centre housing, bus station refurbishment, the conversion of the Victorian Market Hall to a Civic Centre, conservation areas and landscaping improvements have also been recently completed.

New housing is completed with the Redrow 'Millers Wharf' development of canal-side apartments in the former Cornmill. In addition the historic Longlands Mill, a listed building in the centre of Stalybridge, is finally to get a new lease of life with Tom Bloxham of Urban Splash creating a new mixed use development with leisure, retail and residential uses.
