AMERICAN PICKUP TRUCKS (a family run business) import American vehicles from Miami and then convert to right hand drive in their new workshop and showroom on Clark Way in Hyde. They export to Australia, New Zealand and India and have exhibited at the NEC Motor Show as well as supplying TV’s “ Top Gear” with a number of vehicles for testing. Their stock is constantly changing and they also offer new and used Ford Mustangs, Cadillacs, Hummers, Chevrolets etc. They can source any specification and colour within a 4-5 week delivery period. Their Director Matthew Griffiths is happy to be operating in Tameside and has already created a number of local jobs as well as offering training in a specialised vehicle conversion environment.

We were extremely pleased to move into our new premises at Cranberry Park Denton which were proactively promoted in partnership with the agent and the Economic Development Unit at Tameside. The proximity of the M60 has made it easy to relocate our existing staff from Stockport, creating 55 new jobs for Tameside. Our new call centre staff are extremely pleased with the micro climate provided with the new leisure centre, healthclub & swimming pool and Sainsburys just across the road. We also look forward to the exciting new retail opportunities soon to be developed close by.

The Economic Development Unit has supported and advised us since 1998 whilst we searched for expansion premises within Tameside. The new Ashton site will allow a more streamlined and efficient operation which will enable further expansion in a single 10 acre area.

Tameside pets will soon be able to check into their own five star accommodation in a new one stop pet care centre at Parkway Denton. The £3.75m project will also provide a 24 hour animal hospital and is an exciting venture for us all. The site provides the opportunity to build our first completely new centre which can act as a model for new centres elsewhere in the UK and the world. PetcareCo are currently working with the Economic Development Unit to ensure that Tameside residents benefit from the new job opportunities provided.

Over the last few years I have had outstanding service from a number of individuals from the economic development unit at Tameside Council. My search for premises for the UK's leading manufacturer of knitted goods put me in contact with a number of regional agencies but I returned to Tameside's EDU time and time again because I knew their personal and proactive response would find me exactly what I was looking for. Sure enough the right development opportunity was located and my company will now be able to expand and develop on our new site - exciting new horizons for Goldgem !
